NJIT was awarded a $6 million grant by the National Science Foundation to foster the commercialization of campus inventions. The funding will transform scientific and engineering discoveries into market-ready technologies, enhancing areas such as healthcare, sustainable energy and data privacy. It will support the development of promising prototypes and other commercialization activities. The grant will also enhance NJIT's entrepreneurial culture by funding training workshops through the newly established Center for Translational Research. The NSF grant is designed to bolster NJIT’s Technology Innovation Translation Acceleration program, which provides seed grants of up to $75,000 per project over three phases of development, as well as guidance and feedback from an industrial advisory board composed of inventors and entrepreneurs.
